Escalating Tensions in the Middle East
JERUSALEM — As President Donald Trump reinstated his maximum pressure sanctions campaign against Iran, the Islamic Republic responded with a dire warning. A senior Iranian general declared that his nation is preparing for an attack aimed at wiping Israel off the map.

Iran’s regime has already launched multiple aerial strikes against Israel, a key U.S. ally, in 2024. Now, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) General Ebrahim Jabbari has made an ominous statement, saying, “Operation True Promise 3 will be executed at the right time, with precision, and on a scale sufficient to destroy Israel and raze Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground.”
Israel Responds with Defiance
Israel wasted no time in responding to these threats. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar took to social media, emphasizing that the nation remains prepared for any scenario.
“If the Jewish people have learned anything from history, it is this: if your enemy says his goal is to annihilate you—believe him. We are ready,” Sa’ar declared.
Middle East expert Tom Gross underscored the gravity of Iran’s threats, stating, “The Israeli foreign minister is right. Genocidal threats from Iran should be taken seriously. If previous warnings had been heeded, perhaps the October 7 attack could have been prevented.”
Jabbari’s remarks appear to be a direct challenge to President Trump, especially as they were made during a military drill ominously named “The Great Exercise of Prophet Mohammad’s Power.”
Iran’s Assassination Plans Against President Trump
Iran has long had President Trump in its crosshairs, particularly after he ordered the strike that killed IRGC General Qassem Soleimani in 2020. Intelligence reports indicate that Tehran has been planning retaliation ever since.

“If they are trying to send a message to Trump, they should be careful,” Gross warned. “The U.S. president had no problem eliminating the previous head of the Revolutionary Guards, and since then, Iran has attempted to assassinate him. Now, Trump has unfinished business with Tehran.”
The U.S. State Department previously reported that Soleimani was responsible for 17% of American troop casualties during the Iraq war, amounting to over 600 military personnel lost.
President Trump has made it clear that any Iranian attempt on his life would be met with overwhelming force. “That would be a terrible mistake for them,” Trump warned. “If they did that, they would be obliterated. That would be the end—there won’t be anything left.”
Western Blindness to Iran’s Threats
Iranian-American expert Banafsheh Zand criticized Western governments for their failure to take Iran’s threats seriously. “The Khomeinist regime has never hidden its intentions, yet the West continually ignores them,” she said. “While the Shia regime has destroyed Iran, terrorized the region, and attacked civilians worldwide, Western leaders have chosen to turn a blind eye.”
Zand argues that the consequences of this negligence are now evident. “For 46 years, shortsighted and out-of-touch Western leaders have made poor choices that now put their own citizens in harm’s way.”
The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, remains at the helm of a government the U.S. State Department considers the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. As tensions rise, the question remains: how will President Trump and the world respond to Iran’s growing aggression?
